Counselor
The Sanger ISD counseling model provides several components and tools that builds accountability to measure the effectiveness of work throughout the counseling program.
Professional school counselors make decisions on who and how to provide services based on data. Various data points such as studying attendance, discipline referrals, failure of subjects/courses, and assessment data (along with parent and student interviews), help counselors prepare a strategic focused District and Campus counseling program.
Counselors are essential to schools by:
- Helping create a safe school environment for student learning by being proactive rather then reactive.
- Helping design interventions to enhance student success.
- Assisting students in learning how school performance now relates to future opportunities.
- Consulting staff and parents with academic and behavioral support.
- Working with students on behaviors, attendance, and achievement issues.
- Encouraging healthy life style choices and better decision-making.
- Providing support during personal crisis.
- Developing a comprehensive educational and career plan for each student.
- Coordinating referrals to outside agencies.

K-12 counselors in Sanger ISD provide discover lessons to help students learn how to take responsibility for their actions and learning, make better decisions, plan for the future, make the most of the present, and graduate from high school with a plan to be successful.
Student Services
Student services are classified in three categories:
- Systematic individual student planning,
- Planned regular group or individual group practicing sessions, and
- Responsive services based on requests from students or others
Consulting Services
These services include interacting with parents, teachers, administrators, and community members either individually or in meetings to advocate, promote, collaborate, and advise based on the needs of students who are underachieving or underrepresented.
